RAYMOND - Louis Robert Conrad, 81, died Wednesday, April 21, at Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown.

He was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Raymond, son of Robert and Mary Wittry Conrad. He married Teresa Hemmer on June 25, 1960, in Gilbertville.

Mr. Conrad graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed as a carpenter with Youngblut Construction for more than 40 years, retiring in 1996.

Survived by: his wife, Teresa; a son, Joseph (Bonita) of Waterloo; a daughter, Roxane (Daniel) Harms of Ankeny; two grandchildren, Cody Conrad and Ashley Harms; three brothers, Robert L. "Bud" of Raymond, Bill (Carol) and Jim (Marva), both of Washburn; and a sister, Anita (Milo) Russell of Raymond.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Marie (Merle) Sachs and Frances (Donald) Hollar; two sisters-in-law, Clarice Conrad and Pat Conrad.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, both in Raymond, where full military rites will be conducted by Nugent-Demuth Post 714 of Gilbertville. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
