SANDERS, WAGNER, YOUNG, PFISTER

Frederick Alan Sanders, age 74, of Carl Junction, Mo., passed away Friday, April 16, 2010, at Skaggs Hospital, Branson, Mo., following a sudden illness.

Alan was born on Sept. 7, 1935, in Cedar Falls, the son of the late Burton and Louise Sanders. He married Phyllis Wagner on July 22, 1956, in Cedar Falls.

Alan worked for Viking Pump Co. and as a tool designer for Newcor Manufacturing, retiring in June of 1996. He was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. He was a Boy Scout leader for 13 years in Cedar Falls. Following retirement he moved to Carl Junction, where he and Phyllis built their retirement home in Briarbrook. He was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and bicycling. He attended Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage, Mo. He was a volunteer for Freeman Hospital.

He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Wagner of Carl Junction; four sons, Kevin Sanders and wife Janet, and Daryl Sanders and wife Cindy, both of Cedar Falls, Kendal Sanders and wife Tracy, and Darin Sanders and wife Sally, both of Windsor, Colo.; one brother, Charles Sanders of Davenport; two sisters, Audrey Young of Cedar Falls and Jeanie Pfister, Marion; nine grandchildren, Blake, Brandon, Trevor, Lucas, Michael, Ryan and Nathan Sanders, and Samantha and Liam Kellogg. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Collin Sanders, and a sister, Patty Sanders.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Cedar Falls. The family will receive friends immediately following services. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to be given to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or a local hospice group, in care of the mortuary at 3701 E. Seventh St., Joplin, MO 64801.
