WATERLOO - Ruth Walker, 72, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, April 6, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 8, 1937, in Bogalusa, La., daughter of Andrew George Carter and Alyce Bolton. She married Alex Walker on May 6, 1961, in Fort Ord, Calif. He died Jan. 5, 2010.

Mrs. Walker was formerly employed at the Cedar Falls College Square Hy-Vee for 26 years.

Survived by: two daughters, Maria Walker of Waterloo and Deedra Walker of Chicago; three sons, Derrick of Waterloo, Brett (Florida) of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Micah of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; seven sisters, Lillian Robinson of Seattle, Theresa Holloway of San Bernardino, Calif., Mary Katherine (Jerome) Thomas and Adra (Joseph) Cater, both of Los Angeles, Brenda (Benny) Ashe of Victorville, Calif., and Henrietta Carter and Concassandra (Lloyd) Allen, both of Denison, Texas; and four brothers, Terry and Gregory Carter, both of San Bernardino, Dave Carter of Houston and Henry Carter of Los Angeles.

Preceded in death by: four brothers, Andrew G., Stanley, Ralph and Frederick Carter; and a son, Keith Mosley.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Sanders Funeral Service, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the family at 237 Prospect Ave., where they will receive friends.
