CEDAR FALLS - Sreenivas V. "Shari" Chari, 67, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, April 6, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

He was born Dec. 28, 1942, in Hyderabad, India, son of Venkata and Ambuja Devi Chari. He married Peggy Egbert on June 25, 1976, in Milwaukee.

Mr. Chari received his engineering degree from Osmania University, Hyderabad, and his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. He worked at John Deere Waterloo Works for 32 years, retiring in 2009. He volunteered at the Hospitality House in Waterloo, Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls and Habitat for Humanity.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Raja (Holly) of Eglin AFB, Florida, and Krishna of Chicago; a grandchild, Declan Chari; a brother, Gopal (Poornima) Viruptoor of Hyderabad; four sisters, Indira (Raghavan) Vinjamur, Leela (Sampath) Chari, Revathi Mammillapalli and Ratna (Anand) Chakravarthi, all of Hyderabad; and an aunt, Janaki Devi, of Hyderabad.

Preceded in death by: his parents.

Services: 3 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where visitation begins at 1 p.m.

Memorial fund: will be established.
