WATERLOO - June M. Brown, 95, of Friendship Village, died Sunday, March 21, at Lakeview Landing of natural causes.

She was born June 30, 1914, in Grundy County, daughter of James and Caroline Nissen Stark. She married Alvin Brown on June 6, 1937, in Waterloo. He died June 12, 1989.

Mrs. Brown worked for Hinson Manufacturing. She and her husband farmed in Orange Township from 1937 to 1964 and also owned and operated Al's Counter from 1964 to 1968. She was a salesperson at Murphy's Jewelry Store from 1969 to 1980 and was a member of Hammond Avenue Brethren Church.

Survived by: two daughters, Judy (Don) Cole of Cedar Falls and Connie (Dick) Bowers of Mukwonago, Wis.; four grandchildren, Cindy Walker, Greg (Robin) Cole, Tonya (Shaun) Williams and Brenda (Jason) Culver; and a great-grandson, Trent Culver.

Preceded in death by: six sisters: Mary Newton, Ann Pierce, Betty Schroeder, Margaret Stuber, Katie Mannen and Mabel Winkler; five brothers, Ernest, John, Bill, Glenn and Jim Stark; and three other infant siblings.

Private family Services: will take place at Hammond Avenue Brethren Church, with burial in Orange Township Cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Friendship Village.
