CEDAR FALLS -- Glendola McFarland, 99, of the Cedar Falls Western Home, formerly of Waterloo and Dearborn, Mich., died at the home Saturday, May 1, 1999, of natural causes.

She was born May 19, 1899, in Delaware, Iowa, daughter of Junius and Stella Benson Knowles. She married Alfred C. McFarland on Oct. 3, 1924, in Sterling, Colo. He died in 1945.

Mrs. McFarland graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in teaching and taught school in Denver, Colo. She then received a degree from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1931 and was a licensed mortician for 50 years. She and her husband founded McFarland Funeral Home in Dearborn, retiring in 1972.

Survived by: nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: three brothers, Maurice, Stanley and James Knowles; and two sisters, Janice Burch and June Penn.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery chapel, with burial in the cemetery. There will be no visitation. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.
