MAERTZ, CONNOR, JEWELL, SHIELDS, KIRSCH, JOHNSON

WATERLOO -- James M. "Jim" Maertz, 50, 2000, of Richfield, Minn., formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, Feb. 21, in Richfield of Parkinson's disease.

He was born March 5, 1949, in Redwing, Minn., son of Richard and Shirley Connor Maertz. He married Kathleen Jewell.

Mr. Maertz played hockey for the Waterloo Black Hawks during the 1971-72 season. He was currently employed in sales of dental accessories.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Parker at home; a daughter, Lauren Maertz at home; his mother, Shirley Kirsch; six brothers, Richard, David and Tom Maertz and Jeff, Michael and John Kirsch; and four sisters, Mary Shields, Jan Kirsch, Elizabeth Johnson and Peggy Kirsch.

Preceded in death by: his father; and stepfather, Eldor Kirsch.

Services: were Feb. 25, at Woodlake Lutheran Church, Richfield, with burial in Dawn Valley Cemetery, Bloomington, Minn.. Morris Nilsen Chapel, Richfield, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the family for a fund to be established.
