WATERLOO - Sharon Kay Free, 56, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, March 16, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born Aug. 26, 1953, in Beloit, Wis., daughter of Jack and Jean Bryant Scott. She married Jim Free on Oct. 26, 1974, in Waterloo.

She graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1971, attended Ellsworth Community College and graduated from Pitze's Beauty School. She was employed with Pitze's Beauty Shop for 12 years and was a para-educator at West High School for five years with special needs students.

Survived by: her husband; a son, Matthew J. Free of Waterloo; her father and stepmother, Jack (Barbara) Scott of Cedar Falls; her mother, Jean Scott of Westminster, Colo.; three brothers, Gary (Carol) Scott of Marshalltown, David (Mary) Scott of Pevely, Mo., and James (Erin) Scott of West Plaines, Mo.; and a sister, Susan (Ray) Sabetka of Trinidad, Colo.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Free.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty–Waychoff–Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to First United Methodist Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
