WATERLOO — Leonard Joseph Meaney, 69, of Waterloo, died Monday, March 8, at Allen Hospital.

He was born Jan. 13, 1941, in Oelwein, son of Martin Jerome and Agnes Mary Shannon Meaney.

Mr. Meaney graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, Fairbank, in 1959, then attended Loras College, Dubuque. He was later employed in the stock room at John Deere Tractor Manufacturing Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He belonged to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, where he was the church organist for 14 years, then joined Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo, where he was the church organist for six years.

Survived by: a brother, Howard (Janet) of Oelwein; a sister, Dorothy Kriener of Fredricksburg; 12 nieces and nephews; and good friend, Larry Murray of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother-in-law, Henry Kriener.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo, with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fairbank. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. Visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church.
