WATERLOO - Russell J. Burt Sr., 83, of Waterloo, died Friday, Feb. 26, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 10, 1927, in Waterloo, the son of Robert and Fannie Rockett Burt. He married Mae Eva Ceasar Aug. 27, 1949, in Waterloo.

Mr. Burt was retired from Waterloo John Deere Tractor Works after 36 years.

Survived by: his wife; three daughters, Shelia M. (B. Lloyd) Bullock of Waterloo, Jessica D. Burt of Atlanta, and Monica L. Spates of Killeen, Texas; two sons, Russell J. Burt Jr. III of El Paso, Texas, and Kerwin D. (Suzanne) Burt of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Aretha (Johnnie) White of Waterloo and Dorothy Tyson of Dallas, Texas.

Preceded in death by: a son, Russell J. Burt II; three brothers, Percy, the Rev. Robert and Bishop; and two sisters, Emma Ross and Ada Tredwell.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Union Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories. Friends may call at church from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with a Masonic Lodge service by St. John's Lodge No. 35 F & AM at 5:30 p.m. Sanders Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the family at 713 Cottage St., where they will be receiving friends.
