WATERLOO - Russell E. Flaskerud, 87, of Waterloo, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 2, 1922, in La Porte City, son of Melvin L. and Thelma E. Teeter Flaskerud.

Mr. Flaskerud graduated from Calmar High School, Calmar, and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and retired from Rath Packing Co. in 1983.

Survived by: a brother, K. Donald of Denver, Colo.; and a sister, Mary Jane Stanhope of Janesville.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Gordon and Lyle.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Public visitation for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial fund: has been established, to be designated at a later date.
