EVANSDALE - Joyce Ann Elin, 57, of Clarksville, Tenn., formerly of Evansdale, died Friday, Feb. 19, in Nashville, Tenn., from complications of cancer.

She was born Jan. 5, 1953, in Waterloo, daughter of Forrest and Phyllis Decker Bird. She married Gene P. Elin on May 8, 1971, in Waterloo.

Survived by: her husband; a son, Jason of Athens, Ala.; a daughter, Penny (Patrick) Greene of Clarksville; two brothers, Ward (Kelly) Bird of Waterloo and Bill (Linda) Bird of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Nancy Carrier of Waterloo and Diana (Dale) Venne of Evansdale; and a granddaughter, Kacie Greene.

Preceded in death by: her parents.

Services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to the family.

Joyce was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who always put the needs of her family before her own. She spent her life serving others as a Red Cross volunteer, scout leader, Relay for Life participant, and honorary grandma in her granddaughter's daycare
