FISCHER, DEHNKE, VOLD, TAGGETZ

WATERLOO — David E. Fischer, 73, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, at Allen Hospital of pancreatic cancer.

He was born June 8, 1936, in Eau Claire, Wis., son of Ewald and Charlotte Dehnke Fischer. He married Darlene Vold on Sept. 24, 1966, in Osseo, Wis.

Mr. Fischer was employed with John Deere for 43 years, retiring in 1999. Following his retirement, he was involved with the maintenance of the building and grounds of the Waterloo Village Inn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he was a sharpshooter.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Ethan (Chelsey Jordache) of Nashville, Tenn., and Troy Fischer of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Ruth (Vern) Taggatz of Port Edwards, Wis.; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Fischer of Eau Claire, Wis., and Patricia Fischer of Mission Viejo, Calif.

Preceded in death by: three brothers, Clarence, Robert and Donald; and a sister, Mary Weiss.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the Allen Cancer Treatment Center, Mayo Clinic or Nazareth Lutheran Church.
