CEDAR FALLS — Gordon W. Card, 91, of Mallard Point Retirement Community, died Monday, Feb. 15, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 26, 1918, in Parkersburg, son of Clarence and Dora Klodt Card. He married Earlene Tucker on Dec. 28, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. She died July 8, 2003.

Mr. Card worked at Rath Packing Co. from 1937 to 1962 as frozen food sales manager, then took over his father-in-law’s farm operation in Plainfield in 1962. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He also was past president of Bremer County Farm Bureau; was an honorary member of Bremer County Pork Producers; served on Bremer County Fair Board; and was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Waverly.

Survived by: a daughter, Kathy Breckunitch of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Joey (Nick) Podhajsky of Traer and Troy (Natascha) Breckunitch of Frankenthal, Germany; a great-grandson, Jamie Breckunitch; a sister, Melba Nelson of Des Moines; and a niece, Sylvia Christiansen of Des Moines.

Preceded in death by: a son-in-law, Jim Breckunitch; a brother-in-law, Everett Nelson; and a nephew, Sterling Nelson.

Family memorial services: will be at a later date, with inurnment in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, assisted the family.
