CEDAR FALLS — Richard F. Bushby, 82, of Cedar Falls, died at home Sunday, Jan. 24.

He was born July 29, 1927, in Fairbank, son of Frederick Thomas and Marie Johnson Bushby. He married Catherine I. Fitkin on April 24, 1954, as St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup.

Mr. Bushby served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with IPS, now MidAmerican Energy, until his retirement in 1987.

Survived by: his wife; four sons, Richard J. (Barbara) of Toronto, Canada, David F. of Cedar Falls, Robert J. of Waterloo and Frederick T. (Christine) II of Prattville, Ala.; six daughters, Ann M. (Dale) Balm-Olson of Cedar Falls, Margaret "Margo" (Chuck) Cerny of Rockford, Ill., Mary L. (Tim) Hanson, Barbara E. Bushby, Sheila M. (Steve) Kerns and Regina H. (Randy) Jamieson, all of Waterloo; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, John W. Bushby of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, James and Charles; and two sisters, Mildred DeWald Fox and Marian Ross.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Waterloo, with inurnment in St. Athanasius Cemetery, Jesup. Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, Waterloo, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.
