WATERLOO - Leland G. Schneider, 87, of Waterloo, died Monday, Jan. 18, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born March 17, 1922, in Quasqueton, son of George W. and Florence Klotz Schneider. He married Alice M. Wood on May 16, 1949, at First Congregational Church, Waterloo.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force in Italy. He was employed with Rath Packing Co. for 38 years until it closed. He moved to Grundy Center in 1979, where he was employed with the Grundy Center Bank and Grundy Center School, retiring in 1993.

Survived by: his wife; three daughters, Sandra (Steve) Conway of Des Moines, Susan (Don) McCunniff of Waterloo and Sheila (Kevin Geraci) Schneider of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren, Chad Conway, and Jesse, Alison and Michael McCunniff; a great-granddaughter, Eva Conway; and a sister, Lorraine Heinick of Waterloo.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Congregational Church, with burial at 1:30 p.m. in Quasqueton Cemetery, Quasqueton, where full military rites will be conducted by Cedar Rock American Legion of Quasqueton. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Garup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or the Alzheimer's Association.
