Shirley died on what would have been her 68th wedding anniversary. Ray was tired of waiting for her in heaven. Born in Waterloo, Iowa, she would have celebrated her 90th birthday May 22. She lived in Chicago and Houston before settling in Shreveport, La. She moved five years ago to San Luis Obispo, Calif., to be closer to family.

Shirley was preceded in death by her dear husband, Raymond Boyenga, and leaves behind her sister, Darlyne, nieces and nephews.

Shirley was definitely one of a kind, a jewel in our lives and a memory that will never fade.
