WATERLOO - David C. Juon, 62, of Waterloo, died at home Friday, Jan. 8, following a heart attack.

He was born Aug. 5, 1947, in Des Moines, son of Elmer and Anna Darnell Juon. He married Sharon Dunker on Sept. 7, 1968, in Peoria, Ill.

Mr. Juon graduated from North Polk High School in 1965 and Iowa State University in 1972, with a degree in English, speech and broadcast journalism. He started as public affairs director of WHBF TV station, Rock Island, then joined John Deere in 1973 in human resources and currently was working as supervisor of the John Deere Regional Training Center. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the Waterloo School Board for six years; currently was a member of the Community Education Committee; was a deacon, elder, choir member and chair of the Music and Worship Committee at Westminster Presbyterian Church; was a member of Spokesmen Club, Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors; was past president of the Black Hawk County Iowa State University Alumni Club and Audubon Neighborhood Association Board.

Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Jennifer Emily Juon of Denver, Colo., and Lindsay Christine (Alan) Holt of Indianapolis; his mother of Madrid; a brother, Ken (Sarah) of Rhinelander, Wis.; and a sister, Connie (Carl) Duling of Madrid.

Preceded in death by: his father.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, with a 7 p.m. service of prayer and remembrance.

Memorials: may be directed to Iowa State University Foundation for establishment of a David Juon Scholarship or Westminster Presbyterian Church
