CEDAR FALLS — Melba J. Hartson, 96, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Dec. 7, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center.

She was born May 14, 1913, in Lyle, Minn., daughter of John and Theodora Anderson Knutson. She married Kenneth L. Hartson on June 26, 1935, in Cedar Falls. He died Aug. 16, 1949.

Mrs. Hartson graduated from Cedar Falls High School, then attended Mounds Midway School of Nursing, St. Paul, Minn., where she earned a Medical Technology Degree. She returned to Cedar Falls and was employed for 25 years (1953-1978) as a medical technologist at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

Survived by: a son, John (Anne) of Iowa City; two grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Shreve of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Freda Anderson and Marcelle Mouwdy.

Graveside Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Cemetery. Public visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
