CEDAR FALLS — Katherine L. Mienders, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Dec. 6, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

She was born Aug. 27, 1927, in Oelwein, daughter of Paul and Louise Hoth Jacoby. She married Theodore L. Mienders Jr. on Sept. 6, 1947, in Waterloo. He died Oct. 14, 1982.

Mrs. Mienders was employed with Chamberlain Manufacturing, then along with her husband, owned and operated Ted’s Place. After the death of her husband she went to work for Nichols and Associates Inc., retiring after 20 years in September of this year.

Survived by: two sons, Ted (Jean) of Waterloo and Douglas (Nancy) of Bella Vista, Ark.; a daughter, Patricia (Don) Morehouse of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Suzy) Morehouse, Curtis (Joyce) Morehouse, Kevin (Christine) Mienders, Amanda (Ryan) Falck, Chad (Tammy) Mienders, Sam Mienders and Stacy Peck; 12 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Christopher and Rebecca Morehouse, Caitlyn and Curtis Morehouse, Kyle Mienders, Samantha, Dylan, Ashtin and Colin Falck, Brianna and Madelyn Mienders; and four sisters, Dorothy Jones of Vinton, Pauline Closson and Connie Gill, both of Waterloo, and Ethel (Jack) Wentworth of Delmar.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Helen Meyer and Betty “Pat” Sauer.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
