WATERLOO -Gurna "Berniece" Garcia, 75, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Buchanan County Health Care Center, Independence.

She was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Waterloo, daughter of John F. and Gurna Dawson Hansen. She married John A. Garcia Sr. on March 20, 1951, in Rochester, Minn. He died March 20, 2007.

Mrs. Garcia had worked at Waterloo Industries and Venda Foods, and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Survived by: two sons, Ronald (Charlotte) of New Hartford and John A. Jr. of Waterloo; three daughters, Debbie Garcia of Des Moines, Barbara (Rick) Noble of Jesup and Angela (Mark) McGrane of Belle Plaine; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Kay Hansen of Fredericksburg, Rita Fairbanks of Waterloo and Jesse Reed of Oskaloosa.

Preceded in death by: her parents; a daughter, Rebecca Garcia; three brothers, John, Robert and Raymond Hansen; and six sisters, Onie Hansen, Virginia Kohl, Kathryn Nicol, Jessie Jabens, Myrtle June Stille and Emma Lou Randall.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with burial in Garden of Memories. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation also an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
