Norman Crossley D.D.S., of Lisbon, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from cancer. A visitation is planned Sunday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids from 1 to 3 p.m. Dr. Crossley was a long time dentist in Solon and was dedicated to helping others.

He initiated the Iowa Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association and enjoyed various aspects of Thoroughbred racing. He was an avid and skilled golfer from a very young age. Norman was also a dedicated and life long supporter of Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball. He was also a poet and philosopher who enjoyed life tremendously.

He was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Ackley, Iowa, to Agnes and the Rev. William Crossley. His hope and belief in a better tomorrow will always be remembered.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela; sons, Tom (Hailey, Idaho) and Jon (Cedar Rapids); daughters, Susan Fleck (Iowa City), Becky Nierman (Northbrook, Ill.), Sarah Carson (Humboldt) and Laura Crossley (Lisbon); six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the St. Luke’s staff and hospice for their caring and attentiveness during his stay. Also thanks to all for your well wishes and concern during his illness.

Please make donations to your local hospice and/or cancer society in lieu of flowers.

[Dr Crossley had a dental practice in Hudson for a number of years before moving to Lisbon.]
