WATERLOO — Mercede Evon House, 85, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Nov. 26, at Allen Hospital.

She was born Dec. 8, 1923, in Tripoli, daughter of August and Hulda Kleis Hesse. She married Robert “Red” House; he died in 1988.

Mrs. House was self-employed in thoroughbred horse training.

Survived by: a daughter, Laura (Danny) Becker of Correctionville; five grandchildren, Amy (Colby) Parr, Jeffrey (Jill) Becker, Joel (Tina) Becker, Emily Becker-Dahl and Aaron (Angie) Becker; two brothers, Arlyn (Alice) Hesse of Des Moines and Kelly (Lynn) Hesse of Tucson, Ariz.; and a sister, Barbara Seelhammer of Waverly.

Preceded in death by: her parents; three sisters, Lucille Johnson, Ila Elliot and Marlys (Leo) Goodenbour; and a brother-in-law, Bill Seelhammer.

Family-directed memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Celebration Assembly of God Church. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is assisting the family.
