WATERLOO — Josephine J. Schiefelbein, 83, of Waterloo, died at home Wednesday, Nov. 25.

She was born Jan. 25, 1926, in Waterloo, daughter of Richard C. and Grace E. Grinnell Holdiman. She married Mervil Schiefelbein on April 10, 1965 in Dunkerton. He died in June 1978.

Mrs. Schiefelbein graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1943 and attended Gates Business College. She was employed with John Deere in the parts department for 30 years. She received the Governor’s Volunteer Award for her work with Denver Elementary School for 20 years, and Cedar Heights Elementary for nine years.

Survived by: a son, Scott R. (Tracy) of Waterloo; a stepson, Samuel N. Schiefelbein, also of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Hunter, Dakota, and Tanner; a stepgranddaughter, Tina; and a sister, Jane Grimmius of Norwalk.

Preceded in death by: a nephew, Mike O. Grimmius.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Dunkerton, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Public visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
