HUDSON — C. Ann Strayer, 70, of Hudson, died at home Wednesday, Nov. 25, of pancreatic cancer.

She was born June 16, 1939, in Lake City, daughter of Wrey D. and Edna Brown Hammond. She married Philip “Dennis” Strayer June 9, 1962, at First Baptist Church in Ames.

Mrs. Strayer attended Ames High School and Iowa State University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in home economics and a bachelor of science degree in child development. She was a teacher at South Tama, Toledo for two years, and she was substitute teacher in Toledo, Durant, and Hudson for many years.

She was a member of Hudson United Methodist Church

Survived by: her husband; a son, Berton (Teresa) Hudson; a daughter, Sara (Barron) Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Norma Baker of St. Joseph, Mich.; and two grandchildren, Amanda, and Samuel Strayer

Preceded in death by: a son, Johnathon; a daughter, Lisa Strayer; and two brothers, Bill and Merlyn Hammond.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hudson United Methodist Church, with burial in Hudson Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo.

Memorials: may be directed to the family, Hudson United Methodist Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Her avocation was painting and other crafts. She devoted most of her time to being a wife, mother, and grandmother.
