WATERLOO - Kenneth E. "Morg" Morgensen, 79, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Jan. 16, 1930, in Waterloo, son of Helmer and Beatrice Shea Morgensen. He married Carolyn A. Buhr on Oct. 6, 1956, in Tripoli. She preceded him in death Nov. 21, 1996.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War from 1951-1953.

Mr. Morgensen owned and operated Morg's Lunch in downtown Waterloo for 42 years, retiring in 2002. He was a life member of the Waterloo Elks Club.

Survived by: a daughter, Julie Barnes of Prescott, Ariz.; a son, Scott (Deb) of Cedar Falls; and six grandchildren, Noah, Shae, Amanda, Troy, Sara and Tommy.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and his wife.

Memorial services: 3 p.m. Thursday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, with inurnment in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today and after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Morg enjoyed his restaurant and loved to visit with everyone. He made many friends over the years.
