Helena B. Gerholdt (1915-2009)

WATERLOO - Helena B. Gerholdt, 94, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Oct. 10, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born May 11, 1915, in Chatsworth, Ill., daughter of Claus and Henrietta Helena Meils Fredericks. She married Floyd Lester Gerholdt on Aug. 11, 1936, in Hallock, Minn. He died April 6, 1991.

Survived by: two sons, Roger (Dixie) of Buckingham and Floyd (Dianne) of DeSoto; eight grandchildren, Steve (Renate) Gerholdt, Dennis Gerholdt, Todd (Jackie) Gerholdt, Kevin Gerholdt, Jon (Deanna) Gerholdt, Jeff Gerholdt, Julie (Michael) Howard and Andrea (Michael) Garcia; five stepgrandchildren, Jim (Becky) Dalluge, John (Debbie) Dalluge, Paul (Cam-Tu) Dalluge, Jennie (Bruce) Ganzer and Myrtle (Lonny) Nelson; 24 great-grandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her parents; four brothers, Benjamen, John, Claus and Lewis Fredericks; and a sister, Katherine Lindgren.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Helena enjoyed crafts, quilting, playing games and cards. In her later years she liked flowers and gardening. She was also a wonderful cook and will be greatly missed by all who knew her
