WEST UNION - Elaine Thompson, 85, of West Union, died Monday, Oct. 5, at Good Samaritan Home, West Union, of age-related causes.

She was born July 28, 1924, in Forest City, daughter of Alfred and Emma Pederson Peterson. She married John Thompson on Jan. 28, 1944, in Arkansas. He died in 1987.

Mrs. Thompson worked for Prairie View Care Facility as a nurses' aide and activity director for 36 years, retiring in 2004.

Survived by: two daughters, Karol (Alan) Kleppe of Hawkeye and Janice (Ken) Senner of West Union; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd (Rita Mae) Lewis of Forest City; and a sister, Cleone Reisetter of Forest City.

Preceded in death by: a brother.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, West Union, with burial in West Union Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
