WATERLOO - Mabel Irene Heerkes, 89, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Oct. 4, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of dementia.

She was born April 4, 1920, near Dumont, Franklin County, daughter of Elward G. and Zelda Latimer Heerkes. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. She had been a resident at Ravenwood for the last 14 years.

Survived by: a brother, Ray E. (Louise) Heerkes of Hazleton; a brother-in-law, Edwin Myers of Evansdale; two nieces, Pat (Ken) Weber of Jesup and Rae Ann (Ron) Pedersen of Cedar Falls; two nephews, Mike (Julie) Heerkes of Porter, Texas, and Bob (Betsy) Myers of Perry; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceded in death by: her parents; and two sisters, Edna Mowery and Ethel Myers.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and an hour before services Friday at the chapel.
