WATERLOO - Mark Thomas Christiansen, 54, of Rolla, Mo., formerly of Waterloo, died Sept. 22, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Mo., of complications of a heart attack.

He was born Dec. 9, 1954, in San Diego, son of Earl A. and Elizabeth "Bette" Ponto Christiansen.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was also in the Army Reserve for five years. He was a self-employed painter.

Survived by: his parents of Waterloo; a son, Joshua (Angie) Finn of Evansdale; four grandchildren, Hannah, Samantha, Cody and Alex Finn; three brothers, Scott (Carol) of Dallas, Todd of Waterloo and Craig (Julie) of Roseville, Minn.; a sister, Paige (Larry) McCroan of Gaston, S.C.; four nieces, Abby and Haley Christiansen, Tiffany Gibbs and Sara (Sam) Teem; and a nephew, Jimmy Gibbs.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Peter; paternal grandparents, Anton and Minnie Christiansen; and maternal grandparents, Raymond and Adella Ponto.

Family-conducted memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with inurnment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the grave by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Public visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is assisting the family.
