CEDAR FALLS - Donald J. Stewart, 84, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, Oct. 2, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.

He was born March 16, 1925, in Waterloo, son of Maxwell J. and Vivian Osborn Stewart. He married Evelyn Louise Isley on April 18, 1946, in Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death May 13, 2003.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1943 and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a mail carrier for the Cedar Falls Post Office for 32 years, retiring in 1980.

Survived by: a son, Donald (Nancy) of Aplington; two daughters, Linde "Stub" Hoppes and Pegg "Missy" (Bob) Neuhaus, both of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren, Kelly (Gary) Crase, David (Diane) Walvatne, Bill (Cindy) Stewart and Amanda Stewart; and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: his wife; his parents; a daughter, Vicki Joe Stewart; a sister, Bonnie Goldenstein; and two brothers, Cleo and Robert Stewart.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
