WATERLOO - Juanita J. Kopplin, 85, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Sept. 27, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born July 12, 1924, in Manchester, daughter of Melvin and Leona Ritter Cook. She married Clarence J. Kopplin on March 11, 1945, in Waterloo. He died Feb. 15, 1995.

Mrs. Kopplin graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1942 and was a homemaker in her own home. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and confirmation class; and was a member of Ladies Aid and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW 1623.

Survived by: a daughter, Jennifer (Larry) Schmidt of Jesup; three sons, Joseph (Darlene) Kopplin of Jesup and John and Dan, both of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin (Geri) Cook of Postville and David (Carol) of Tucson; a sister, Beverly Stanford of Waterloo; a sister-in-law, Joyce Cook of Winter Park, Fla.; and three brothers-in-law, Joe Sulentic of Waterloo, Delbert Benson of California and Jack Trostel of Janesville.

Preceded in death by: a grandson, Andrew Kopplin; four sisters, Olive Cook, Twila Sulentic, Virginia Benson and Joan Trostel; and a brother, Gene Cook.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, with inurnment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Her body has been cremated.
