CEDAR FALLS - Harry John Mercurio, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Sept. 28, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

He was born Feb. 1, 1928, in Waterloo, son of John A. and Nellie Lane Mercurio. He married Beverly L. Aldrich on Dec. 23, 1950, in Waterloo.

Mr. Mercurio was a 1946 graduate of Waterloo West High School. He was employed with Rath Packing Co. for 14 years and for a short time with H&H Tool and Die Co. In 1967 he was employed with John Deere as a journeyman tool grinder, retiring in 1988. Through the years he also bred and raised several species of homing pigeons.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Michael (Connie) and Joseph (Marcia), both of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Roberta (Edward) Frola of Phoenix.

Preceded in death by: a son, John A.; two brothers, Al and Rick; and two sisters, Jean Bentley and Frances Warmeth.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Trinity Bible Church, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Richardson Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
