WATERLOO - Effie G. Morris, 90, of Waterloo, formerly of 1119 Kent Circle (Liberty Manor), died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

She was born Feb. 21, 1919, in Chester, daughter of Curtis and Emma Begeman Tibbals. She married Charles V. Morris on March 14, 1943, in Chester. He died Jan. 5, 1992.

Mrs. Morris graduated from Chester High School, Chester, in 1937, and earned her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teacher's College, Cedar Falls. She taught in country schools and was a substitute teacher in Waterloo schools. She then taught in Dunkerton schools, retiring in 1972. She was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church.

Survived by: three daughters, Betty (Pat) Vollbrecht of Waterloo, Jane (Dave) Annett of Lomita, Calif., and Charlotte (Keith) Haycraft of Evansdale; a son, Charles D. (Laurie) of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Tressa Alberts of Lime Springs, Frances Poppenga of Lennox, S.D., and Clarice (Darrell) Crouse of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Tibbals of Evansdale.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Edith Alberts; a brother, Curtis Tibbals; and a grandson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home.
