Come join us in celebration of her life, which will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March, 23, 2009 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waterloo, with burial in the Hudson Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 2-5 p.m. at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, Waterloo, and one hour before the service at the church Monday.

Esther was born April 23, 1923, in Garwin, daughter of Alfred and Olinda Luethje Woehlk. She married Edward R. Kubik on March 1, 1943 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He preceded her in death April 26, 2007.

She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband south of Hudson for more than 50 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Waterloo, and the Cedar Valley Polka Club.

Survived by: a son, Bruce (Kathy Makinster) Kubik of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Monica (Steve) Caslavka of Hudson; three grandchildren, Amy (Rich) Hasley of Cedar Rapids, Bryan Kubik of Cedar Rapids and Shawn (Ashley) Caslavka of Hudson; and four great-grandchildren, Ashley Hasley, Travis Hasley, Emily Kubik and Jayson Kubik.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a grandson, Chad Kubik; a daughter-in-law, Karen S. Kubik; and two brothers, Loren and Leonard Woehlk.
