Luella Mae Bergmeier - January 12, 2010

Luella Mae Bergmeier was born August 17, 1922 at Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Marshall and Della Yoder Cross. She received her education in Waterloo where she attended East High School.

Following high school she was united in marriage to John Harold Bergmeier on May 24, 1940 in Waterloo. Luella and John then moved to make their home in San Diego, CA while John served in the military. They then returned back to Waterloo where she raised her family and also was employed as a cook at the Geneseo School and later owned and operated Mothers Hen Kitchen in Dysart. In the late 1980’s they moved to Angola, IN where she worked as a switchboard operator at the Cameron Hospital. After John’s death she continued to make her home in Angola until 2008 when she returned to Iowa. More recently she has made her home in Dysart.

Her death came on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the age of 87 years.

She is survived by six sons; Gary (Carol) Bergmeier of Auburn, IN, Keith Bergmeier of Denver, IA, Bill (Janice) Bergmeier of Elberon, IA, Jim (Joline) Bergmeier of Chelsea, IA, Mark (Carla) Bergmeier of LaPorte City, IA, and Robert Jack (Patty) Quail of Waterloo, four daughters; Alta Ann (Kenny) Hamer of Kingsland, GA, Diana (Tom) Scoggin of Aldie, VA, Joy (Allen) Cox and Gloria (Jack) Hockey both of Washburn, IA, three brothers; Al Cross of Elk Run Heights, IA, Chuck Cross of Waterloo and Harold Cross of Gainesville, GA, three sisters; Georgia Nikerson of Manakin -Sabot, VA, Shirley Merritt of Livingston, TX and Maxine Carr of Waxhaw, NC as well as 93 grand, great grand and great great grandchildren.

Interment: Orange Township Cemetery, Waterloo
