Obituary -- Mrs. Lucinda Lyon

Lucinda Arminda Adams, youngest daughter of Benjamin and Arminda Adams, was born June 12, 1857 in Black Hawk county, and departed this life Dec. 18, 1939 at the age of eighty-two years, six months and six days. After a lingering illness she passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. D. Ellis of Oelwein.

Her entire life was spent in and around this community.

On Feb. 10, 1873 she was united in marriage to Milton DeWald. To this union were born ten children. Her husband and one son, James, preceded her in death.

She was again united in marriage to J. B. Lyon. There were four step children, three sons and one daughter.

On Nov. 26, 1900 Mrs. DeWald was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and remained faithful to the end.

Left to mourn her passing are her nine children, Mrs. Mertie Ellis, Mrs. Gertie Cummings, Mrs. Daisy Bennett, and Oran all of Oelwein; Mrs. Myra Ostrum, Algona, Iowa, Mrs. Maggie Hymer of Masonville, Iowa, Archie of Fairbank, John of Wadena, and Amos of Staples, Minn. Also 30 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren besides a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from the Methodist church in Fairbank.
