Mrs. Catherine Burger

Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Burger, 81, of the Edith rest home, will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic church.

Mrs. Burger died at 8 p.m. Monday in the rest home of advanced age.

She was born Catherine Gertrude Schmidt Jan. 27, 1882, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Amfahr Schmidt, at Eagle Center.

She married William Burger May 3, 1899. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Burger was a member of Sacred Heart church, the Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. William Lamb, 405 E. End Ave., Evansdale; two sons, Burton Burger, Rt. 2, and Ray Burger, Charles City; 15 grand-children; 20 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; two brothers, Adam Schmidt, Jesup, and Philip Schmidt, Redwood Falls, Minn.; and three sisters, Mrs. Lena Phillips, 2006 Independence Ave.; Mrs. William Wagner, Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Clara Meisch, Gilbertville.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two daughters, two grandchildren and three brothers.

Rosary services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Legion of Mary and at 8 p.m. by the parish and Rosary Society in the Oppold funeral home.
