James R. Marx (1934-2009)

Waterloo, Iowa - James R. Marx, 75, of Atlanta, formerly of Waterloo, died December 8, 2009, at his home, of natural causes.

He was born March 21, 1934, in Waterloo, the son of Harry and Elizabeth Jorgenson Marx. He married Joann F. Sherrill on July 30, 1955, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls. He graduated from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, in 1952. He then entered the U.S. Air Force, serving in Anchorage; Tripoli, Libya; and in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1972 after 20 years of service.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Jim (Jannan) of Dike; two daughters, Linda (Bruce) Wilson of Roswell, Ga., and Kathy (Chris) Hall of Dacula, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services took place in Atlanta.
