Louise E. Wollin (1923-2009)

Waterloo, Iowa - Louise E. Wollin, 86, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Cedar Valley Hospice House of natural causes following a short illness.

She was born April 12, 1923, in Springfield, Minn., daughter of William and Fanny Becker Lee. She married Marvin E. Wollin on Feb. 19, 1946, in Springfield. He died March 29, 1994.

She graduated from a one-room schoolhouse near Springfield and was a seamstress for J. C. Penny, Waterloo Tent and Awning, Meany Casket Co, and finally in her own home for Interiors by JoAnn.

Survived by: three sons, Larry (Judie) of Springfield and Curt (Bonnie) and Randy (Jody), both of Waterloo; a daughter, Pam (Jeff) Sauer of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Allen of Tacoma, Washington.

She was preceded in death by: a great-grandson, Brad Mauer; three brothers, Clyde Lee, Charlie Lee and Kenneth "Bucky" Lee; and two sisters, Margie Lyle and Ida Wales.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Louise was a strong willed woman who possessed a solid work ethic. She loved baking, cooking, and canning and entertaining her family, especially on holidays. She loved birds and found great pleasure in watching them at her birdfeeder. She was an avid Jeff Gordon an NASCAR fan and was a past member of Women of the Moose.

Louise will be missed by all who loved her.
