Allen L. Elsamiller (1946-2009)

Waterloo, Iowa - Allen Lee Elsamiller, 63, of Waterloo, died Monday, December 14, at Allen Hospital.

He was born May 23, 1946, on the family farm near Sumner, son of Henry and Mildred Warnke Elsamiller. He married Susan Joy Bonorden on December 5, 1970, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Denver.

Mr. Elsamiller attended Sumner High School, then was drafted into the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge in 1968. In 1974, he began his career at John Deere, where he currently was employed. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Denver.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Ronn (Danelle) of Waterloo; a daughter, Tamala (Darren) Siebrands of Waverly; four grandchildren, Tyler Rottinghaus, Amanda Johnston, Sydney Elsamiller and Alex Siebrands; his mother, Mildred Judisch of Sumner; two brothers, Don (Leonta) of Denver, and Richard (Brenda) of Sumner; and three sisters, LaVonne Seehase of Colorado, Mardell (Eldon) Hoeper of Story City, and Karen (Al) Fritz of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his father and by a brother, Dale.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Denver, where military rites will be performed. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver, and for an hour before services Friday at the church. His body will be cremated following the service.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Allen was a man who helped anyone in need, most often without being asked. He led a very active lifestyle and enjoyed snowmobiles, motorcycles or anything that went fast. He loved his family, friends and co-workers at John Deere. He will be missed by all who have known him.
