Maxine Rudolph 1920-2009

Waterloo, Iowa - Maxine Rudolph, 89, of Waterloo, died Monday December 14, at Friendship Village.

She was born June 19, 1920, in Fairbank, daughter of Mike and Mabel Piegor Shannon. She married Amil Charles Rudolph on Sept. 28, 1940, in Waterloo. He died June 7, 1994.

Mrs. Rudolph was employed at Rath Packing Co. for 20-plus years, Soderberg Optical for several years, and then in the library at Hoover Middle School.

She is survivored by a son, Cliff (Nancy) of Waterloo; a granddaughter, Shannon (Kurt) Umthum of West Des Moines; a great-grandson, Landon B. Unthum; a great-granddaughter on the way; a sister, Eileen Scribner of Waterloo; a brother-in-law, Mark Girsch of Cedar Falls; two sisters-in-laws, Margaret Shannon and Clara Shannon, both of Oelwein, and a niece of special importance, Janet Horn-Greenley of Independence.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Cliff and Kenneth Shannon; two sisters, Edith "Babe" Horn and Mary Jane Girsch.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association. Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.
