Knudsen of Hudson, Deputy Auditor, Dies

Deputy County Auditor Arthur R. Knudsen, 61, of Hudson, died at Schoitz Memorial Hospital at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday of complications of a stroke.

Mr. Knudsen had suffered the stroke about three weeks ago.

Funeral services for Mr. Knudsen will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the Parrott and Wood funeral home. The Rev. Chester McKean, pastor of the Hudson Community Church, will officiate and burial will be in Waterloo Memorial Park cemetery.

He was born on March 5, 1899, at Hudson, the son of John and Minnie Knudsen. He was a graduate of Hudson High School and of Gates Business College in Waterloo.

He married Marion Peterson at Hudson on Jan. 10, 1925. He was past president of the Hudson school board and had served as secretary of the school board since 1945. Mr. Knudsen had been deputy county auditor for 12 years.

He was a member of the Hudson Community church, the Lions Club and the I.O.O.F.

He is survived by his wife, at home; by two sons, John, Hudson, and Richard, Des Moines; by one daughter, Mrs. James Salsbury, Des Moines and by two grandchildren.

Also surviving is his mother, Mrs. Minnie Knudsen, Western Home, Cedar Falls; two sisters, Mrs. Burt Furneaux, 450 Cutler St., and Mrs. Roy Jolls, Santa Monica, Calif., and one brother, Ralph, Des Moines.

Mr. Knudsen was preceded in death by his father and one sister.
