Ex-banker Glenny Dies
Alexander E. Glenny, 94, longtime Waterloo resident and former bank official, died at 7:30 a. m. Friday at this home at 2409 W. 4th St. of complications incident to advanced age.
Mr. Glenny had served as vice president of the Black Hawk National Bank and for many years was a director of the Waterloo Savings Bank.
He was born Mar. 19, 1859, in Ottawa, Canada, the son of Alexander Erwin and Ellen Erwin Glenny. He came to the Waterloo area in 1881 with his parents.
He married Ella Norah Lichty, Feb. 23, 1886. She preceded him in death in 1947. They lived on a farm in Orange Township until 1908 when they moved to Waterloo.
He was a member of the Waterloo Lodge, AF&AM and joined the Iowa Consistory No. 2 at Cedar Rapids in 1916. He was also a member of the El Kahir Shrine of Cedar Rapids.
He was also a member of the Rotary Club of Waterloo and of the First Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Lucile B. Glenny, 2409 W. 4th St., and Mrs. Harold Whittle, Beverly Hills, Cal.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The body is at Keans-Dykeman Chapel. Services have been tentatively set for Monday.
