Conard G. Klein, 65, of 186 W. Mullan Ave., died of a heart attack Wednesday at 9 a. m. as he was entering the lobby of St. Francis hospital. He had been suffering from a heart ailment for the past few years.
He was born Nov. 2, 1888, in Eagle Center, the son of Frank and Minnie Klein. For the past 22 years he was employed at the Waterloo John Deere tractor works, most recently as a maintenance worker.
On Oct. 11, 1940, he married Eva E. Zerwis, at Cedar Falls. He was a member of Sacred Heart church and of the Knights of Columbus.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Cecil of 611 Elm St. and John of Clear Laek; a daughter, Virginia Klein of 1106 Jeffereson St.; two stepdaughters, Mary Weidman, Route 3, and Elaine Higgins, of California, a stepson, Jack Koch of Jacksonville, Fla.; five sisters, Mrs. Edna Heckle of 725 Washington St.; Mrs. Pearl Burger, 116 West Wellington St.; Mrs. Dora Burnett, North Hollywood, Cal.; Mrs. Florence McKenna, of California, and Mrs. Eva Russell, Des Plaines, Ill.; four grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.
He was precededin death by his parents and four brothers.
The body is at Parrott & Wood funeral home where funeral arrangements will be announced later.
