Mrs. Sarah Lichty, 1321 Grant avenue, who had lived in and near Waterloo nearly all her life, died at 1:15 p. m. Thursday in Presbyterian hospital of general infirmities incident to advanced age. She was 85 years old.

Born Mar 19, 1856, near Berlin, PA., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob J. Schrock, Sarah Schrock came west with her parents about 1864. The family lived for one year in Preston, Minn., and then moved to Orange township, Black Hawk county, Iowa.

She was married here to Jacob Lichty, and in 1903 the family moved to Waterloo into the residence at 1321 Grant avenue. Mr. Lichty died in 1922.

Surviving Mrs. Lichty are a son, H. J. Lichty, Route 1, Waterloo, and a daughter, Mrs. Merle C. Strayer, 1321 Grant avenue. There are also seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Two brothers are dead.

Mrs. Lichty was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

The body was taken to Petersen Bros. funeral home.[1]
