LICHTY, SCHROCK, STRAYER, BROWN

Jacob Lichty, age 69, died at 4 p.m. yesterday at his home, 1321 Grant avenue, of complications. He was a pioneer resident of Black Hawk county, having moved here from Pennsylvania with his parents in 1860.

Mr. Lichty was born in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, on January 28, 1853, coming to Iowa with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Lichty and settling in Orange township. He first located seven miles south of Waterloo on the “Blue House” road, later going to Orange township where he farmed until 1904, when he moved to Waterloo.

He was married March 2, 1876, to Miss Sarah A. Schrock. Mr. Lichty affiliated with the Church of the Brethren June 2, 1872, and since had been an active member.

Surviving, besides the widow, are a son and a daughter, Harvey, who lives on the old homestead, and Mrs. Merle Strayer, 265 Hammond avenue; also these brothers, A. J. Lichty, Waterloo; C. J. Lichty, Beatrice, Neb.; F. D. Lichty, Omaha; and a sister, Mrs. A. E. Brown, Waterloo. Seven grandchildren are living.

The body may be viewed at Petersen Bros. chapel from 3 to 9 p.m. today. It will be taken to the late home tomorrow at 8 o’clock and services will be from Church of the Brethren Friday at 2 p.m., with Rev. A. P. Blough in charge, and interment in Orange township cemetery.
