Death of Mrs. Katharine Hanneke.—At 10 o’clock last Friday a.m., after an illness of but a few days, death came to Mrs. Hanneke. Deceased sufferd more or less of that dreded disease, asthma, for a number of years. The day of her death she seemed to be in good spirits and not unusually sick. She conversed freely with her friends who called upon her that day, but at the same time she realized that her time here upon earth was very short. By request, her relatives were called to her presence and she bade them all good-bye, and then moved from her chair to the couch and fell into that everlasting earthly sleep, quietly and peaceably.

Just shortly before she passed away she used the expression several times, “It is just nine months to-day since Julius died.”

Mrs. Hanneke was born Sept. 21, 1841, in Somerset county, Penn., and came to this State about 16 years ago. She made her home with her sister, Mrs. S. H. Miller, up to the time she married Mr. Hanneke, which occurred in March, 1882. Since that time she has lived in this city.

Mrs. Katherine Hanneke, nee Miss Katharine Saylor, was the first of a family of ten children to leave this earth. All will be present at the funeral except Noman, of Philadelphia, Penn., and Albert, of North Yakama, Washington. Elias, Christopher, Dan and Urias, all of Brown Co., Kansas, arrived here Saturday afternoon. Mrs. J. H. Miller, of Neb., is expected here to-day.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow from the Dunkard church (of which she was a consistent member for many years) at 1 l’clock p.m., after which the remains will be laid to rest in Elmwood cemetery. J. B. L.
