Norman Saylor, 66, inmate at the county hospital in Mt. Vernon township since May 11, 1917, died Thursday morning after having been bedfast with rheumatism for six months.
Born in 1870 in Orange township, he lived with his mother, Camilla Saylor, on an acreage a mile southwest of Hudson after the death of his father, Jeremiah Saylor, Aug. 15, 1895. Mrs. Saylor died Dec. 23, 1918.
Mrs. Ella Joder, Hudson, a sister, is the only immediate survivor. Another sister, Mrs. W. G. Strayer, died at Hudson, and a brother, P. W. Saylor, died in Oregon. Norman Saylor never married.
A private funeral service will be conducted in the O’Keefe & Towne chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday by Rev. H. V. Briggs, pastor of United Brethren church of Hudson. Burial will be in the Hudson cemetery.-- “Norman Saylor,” Waterloo Daily Courier, Waterloo, Iowa (27 Nov 1936:2)
