Elmira Joder of Hudson Is Dead; Funeral Monday
Was 75 Years Old; Husband Was Druggist and Postmaster There.
Hudson, Ia.—Mrs. Elmira Joder, 75, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday at her home here of a stroke she suffered six weeks ago.
As Elmira Saylor, daughter of Jeremiah and Camilla Saylor, pioneers of Orange township, she was born on a farm there Oct. 25, 1868, where she grew to womanhood.
On Nov. 29 1889, she was married to Alphonso T. Joder, a druggist in Waterloo. In 1895 Mr. Joder purchased the Slusher drug store in Hudson and in 1910 was appointed postmaster by President William Taft, which position he held until his death in 1931.

Leaves Two Sons.
Mrs. Joder had been a resident of Black Hawk county and Hudson all her life. She was a charter member of Dorcas Rebekah lodge, organized in 1907, and was a meber of the Past Noble Grand association, Federated church, Woman’s Missionary Union of the church, American Legion auxiliary and Service Star Legion, in all of which she was active until her recent illness.
Surviving are two sons, Glen S. and Robert A. Joder of Hudson, and two nephews, Earl Joder and William Strickler, Waterloo.

Rites at 4 P.M. Monday.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at the Federated church in Hudson. Rev. E. Bodenham of Riceville, former pastor of the old Baptist church here, officiating, assisted by Rev. Harvey Buss, pastor.
Burial services at Hudson cemetery will be in charge of the Rebekahs. Casketbearers will be Edwin E. Axon, Harold Gutknecht, W. G. Strayer, Omar Green, Victor Larsen, all of Hudson, and Floyd Mastain, Waterloo.
The body will be at the O’Keefe and Towne funeral home until Monday afternoon, when it will be taken to the church.
